The aims and objectives of the project will be achieved through the development of prototypes adapted to the particular end user requirements, taking into consideration the preventive, therapeutic priorities defined by experts in the field of elderly care and supervision.

Both experts and final users in Spain, the United Kingdom and Norway have been integrated as partners in the project, and, so, ElderGames would be the first leisure application designed with them specifically to provide those experts in the field with a useful play-application for assessing those cognitive skill sets.

Through ElderGames, Europe has also the opportunity to become a world leader in the development of IST-based leisure activities specifically designed to meet the interests, needs and motivations of the elderly, a sector of society which is increasing in number.

To obtain the final technology the following steps will be taken:

  •  Prototype Design and Development
    • Definition of the functional specifications of the prototype
    • Development of prototype mockups for ergonomic evaluation
    • Ergonomic evaluation of mockups
    • Implementation of prototypes
  • Prototype Validation and Testing
    • Prototype Installation
    • Training and selection of experts and users
    • Questionnaires and templates development
    • Playing sessions and data collecting
    • Data analysis and feedback
  • Refined Pre-commercial Prototype
    • Adaptation of the prototype with the generated feed-back
    • Final integration in a pre-commercial version
  • Technology Demonstration
    • Refined Prototype Validation
    • Organisation of Demonstration Sessions
